Someone who recently completed a security license course asked me “where are the job opportunities in the security industry?”

In retrospect, it was a more complex question than it seems because the security industry, much like other industries is changing at a a fast rate and has been substantially influenced by the COVID 19 pandemic.

The security sector most affected, is of course DSP (Door security personnel), with all the pubs, clubs and venues closed for over a year now, all the security staff have found new employment and careers. Thankfully, Ireland is heading out of the pandemic and within the coming months pubs and clubs will reopen under various conditions set down by the health service, but essentially be opened and will need security staff on-duty. I think there is going to be a significant shortfall in licensed DSP staff available for work. This will be a national problem but will particularly impact the urban and metropolitan areas.

Therefore, anyone entering the industry or those with static licences should consider completing their DSP training and obtaining the required licence from the PSA. I am happy to say we offer one of the best courses available in Ireland today, all updated materials, study at home (when it suits you) and at a market beating price too

There are going to be a raft of jobs available in the DSP sector but who is going to fill them? Needless to say, scarcity drives up price and DSP operators who are competent and correctly licenced will be in high demand and commanding an excellent rate for their services.
